Book It

The Library is so often the place to be, and in a Downtown it adds Happening to happenstance. The Egyptians knew it in Alexandria. Monks knew it as they illumined biblical texts for church repositories. Ben Franklin, the creator of the American library, knew it in Philadelphia. A book is a book is a book (did Gertrude Stein say this?), and flipping through a book’s pages is one of the best added values a municipality may make Happening.

Face, Place and Spirit

ESCAPE to the Arts is a creative arm of the YMCA that graces the corner of Danbury's Main and White. It's quite the active workshop: what fun to see kids painting seasonal windows and others actively joining in arts and crafts. It's a great gathering place.

Most recently, ESCAPE has established a Downtown gallery of note, currently exhibiting The Faces, Places, and Spirit of Our Community. (The show runs through November 4.) This poignant, haunting, and lovely photo is one example of what one can find on a stroll through Downtown.
