WCSU Midtown campus, Danbury

Adjunct Instructor of Arabic Dr. Hamid El Khalfi will discuss "The Influence of Arabic on the English Language" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Room 210 of Higgins Annex on the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Arabic is the newest offering by the department and is taught by El Khalfi, a native Arabic speaker. As the population of Arabic speakers in western cultures continues to grow, we are facing a shortage of Arabic speakers in the Western World. The National Security Education Program has listed Arabic as one of the most-needed languages in America and as a language that is critical to national security.The talk is part of a series of presentations showcasing the outstanding faculty in the Department of World Languages and Literature.
