ArtPlace America announced this morning that the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development/Office of the Arts will receive a $500,000 grant to support the CreateHereNow initiative. This will enable a 20-town project to repurpose empty storefronts as places for arts-focused businesses. Participating localities have pledged a total of $2 million in local funds to support the initiative.
ArtPlace America is a consortium of the major national foundations (including Ford, Rockefeller, Knight, Kresge and Bloomberg) to support the role of the arts in placemaking.
